Zulu Stick Fighting (Kilombo Njinga)

Not only some cool stick moves, but I bet it's also a great workout.
I'd like to learn some of this.

is that naa talonga ? it sure looks like him. he and ahati kilindi iyi put on an exposition two years ago where they demonstrated kupingani (sp?) technique. wow.. such a beautiful way to whoop the crap out of somebody. I have to admit I personally enjoy grappling and the open hand techniques. I mostly box but I'm always open to a lil grappling.

I think that stick fighting is too damn cool. Put me in a movie with that! LOL!

Grappling is a little too up close and personal for me! I trained in that many years ago, and had to grapple both males and females. Was waaayyyy intense! omg~! I'd rather kick and box your ass out of my face! lol! If it's serious, though, I will immediately take someone to the ground. You can't play games in a street fight. Take 'em down and disable them immediately! Been there, done it!

I'll look up kupingani...never heard of that one.
Thanks for stopping by!

I am sure you know already that this type of stick fighting was introduced by Shaka, the Great King, to train youngsters who were yet too young to go into combat. By the time they came of age and were required to "wash their spears" with the blood of an enemy, they would be quite proficient fighters.

Because he got them so young, Shaka was able to build the most formidable and sustainable fighting force in sub-saharan Africa.

Good to see you still at it. I enjoy the blog!
